FAQ

The questions we get asked most. Cannot find yours? Email hello@olliespawtry.com.au and we will get back to you within one business day.

ðŸĶī Our treats

What makes your treats different?

Single ingredient, and that is the whole point. Every product we make is one thing: a cut of Australian meat, slowly dehydrated until it keeps. No preservatives, no additives, no artificial colours or flavours, no fillers, and never any rawhide.

How are they made?

Slowly. The meat is dried over many hours at low heat until the moisture is gone and the treat is hard enough to last. Nothing is added at any stage. We work in small batches and hand select what goes into every pack.

Where does the meat come from?

Australia. We source Australian meat and dry it here in Canberra.

What is on the ingredients list?

One word. Whatever the product is made of is the entire list. If you turn a pack over looking for the rest of it, there is no rest of it.

Do the treats smell?

A little, yes. Dried meat has a natural smell to it. Ours are dried thoroughly, which keeps it far milder than a raw or semi dried chew, but a completely odourless treat usually means something has been added to it.

Why does every piece look different?

Because it is a natural product with nothing added to standardise it. Size, weight, colour, texture and shape all vary from piece to piece. That variation is a good sign: it means what is in the bag is exactly what we said it was.

🐕 Feeding and safety

How much should I give my dog?

Our products are treats, not meals, and should be fed alongside a complete and balanced diet. Treats of any kind are usually kept to around ten per cent of what a dog eats in a day. If you are not sure what that looks like for your dog, your vet can tell you.

Do I need to supervise?

Always. Stay with your dog while they are chewing, keep fresh water available, and take the treat away once it is small enough to swallow whole. That goes for every chew from every brand, not just ours.

Are they suitable for puppies?

Most of our range suits puppies once they are chewing solid food confidently. Start with the smaller sizes, keep the first few sessions short, and supervise. If you are unsure about your puppy, check with your vet first.

My dog has a sensitive stomach. Are these OK?

A single ingredient treat is often easier on a sensitive dog than one with a long ingredients list, simply because you know exactly what is going in. That said, we cannot give veterinary advice. If your dog has a diagnosed condition or a known reaction to a particular protein, speak with your vet before introducing something new, and introduce it slowly.

Which product should I choose?

It depends on your dog’s size and how hard they chew. Every product page says who it suits. If you are stuck between two options, email us with your dog’s breed and chewing habits and we will tell you honestly which one to get, including when the answer is the cheaper one.

How should I store them?

Keep them sealed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. No refrigeration needed. Reseal the pack between treats and they will keep for months.

ðŸ“Ķ Ordering and delivery

How much is shipping?

A flat rate within Australia, and free on orders over $99. Current rates are on our Shipping page.

Do you ship overseas?

Not at the moment. Australia only.

How quickly will my order go out?

Order before 7pm and we will usually have it on its way the next day. At the very latest, orders are dispatched within two business days. You will get an email when it is on the way.

How long will delivery take?

Everything is sent with Australia Post. Once your parcel is with them the timeframe is theirs, and it varies depending on where you are.

Can I pick up in Canberra?

Yes, and it is free. Choose Local pickup at checkout and put your preferred day in the order notes. We will confirm a time and send you the address. Pickup is generally weekdays between 6pm and 8pm, by arrangement.

What payment methods do you take?

Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus PayPal. Card payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see or store your card details.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Email us as soon as you can. If it has not been packed yet, we will sort it out.

Something is out of stock. When will it be back?

We make in small batches, so things do sell out. Email us and we will let you know when the next batch is ready.

🔄 Returns and problems

My order arrived damaged or incorrect.

Tell us within 14 days with your order number and a photo, and we will arrange a replacement or a refund. Full details are in our Refund and Returns Policy.

Can I return something I changed my mind about?

Because our products are a consumable food item, we cannot accept change of mind returns once a pack has left our care. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

My parcel has not arrived.

Check the tracking link in your dispatch email first. If it has genuinely gone astray, email us with your order number and we will chase it up with Australia Post and make it right.
